Godskesen was born in 1861 and died in 1937. He was more than just a mayor. He was also a lawyer. He even served as a member of Landstinget. That is the upper house of the Danish parliament.

Godskesen was chairman of Frederiksberg Kirkefond from 1923. He joined the board of Kjbenhavns Telefon Aktieselskab in 1930. He also became a member of Hypotekbanken’s supervisory board in 1933.
