Dedicated in 1979, Bock Park stands as a testament to a man named Robert Bock. He wasn’t just any resident. Bock was one of the first founders and board members of the Schaumburg Park District. He even served as its very first president. Before 1979, Bock Park had a different name: Civic Park. It opened in 1963, offering green space and recreation to the growing community. Bock’s influence and dedication to Schaumburg’s recreational development led to the park being renamed in his honor. This wasn’t the only park touched by Bock. The Bock Neighborhood Center, which includes a pool and recreation center, also bears his name. Robert Bock served as a president of the park district board from 1971-1980. His commitment to community and recreation helped shape Schaumburg into the place it is today.
