“Established in 1969,” the sign proudly proclaims as we approach Bo Tien Temple. Did you know this Taoist temple, also known as “Bo Tien Keng” or “Bo Tien Ser”, has a history marked by both faith and fire?

Bo Tien Temple stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of Taoism in Singapore. Its story begins in 1969. It quickly became a place of worship and community for Taoists.

But tragedy struck. The original Bo Tien Temple was consumed by a fire. Undeterred, the community rebuilt the temple. This ensured its survival for future generations.

The new Bo Tien Temple stands at 407A Woodlands Road. It is a symbol of resilience and devotion.

Interestingly, Bo Tien Temple is associated with the Bo Tien Home for the Aged. The dormitory is situated to the left of the temple. This connection highlights the temple’s commitment to social welfare. The Bo Tien Home For The Aged was set up in 1974. National servicemen established it under the guidance of Lord Bo Tien. The Home is registered with MCYS and affiliated with NCSS.

Bo Tien Temple is more than just a place of worship. It embodies the values of community support and care for the elderly. This reflects the core tenets of Taoism. The temple received the Institution of Public Character Status.

As you explore Bo Tien Temple, take a moment to appreciate its history. Think about its role in the community. Consider the dedication of those who rebuilt it. Bo Tien Temple continues to be a spiritual haven. It is a place where faith and compassion intertwine.
