Bloom High School

A beacon of Art Deco elegance, Bloom High School has stood tall in Chicago Heights since 1934. Bloom High School wasn’t always here. Its predecessor resided on Lincoln Highway until the current structure opened its doors. This majestic building, funded by the Works Progress Administration, replaced the original Bloom High School, which was built in 1901. The current building isn’t just a school. It’s a testament to the community’s resilience during the Great Depression. Its striking design earned it a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Bloom High School is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a crucible where dreams are forged and futures are shaped. The school’s history is interwoven with the growth of Chicago Heights.
