“Founded in 1967”, states a plaque near the entrance of the BMSZC Bláthy Ottó Titusz Informatikai Szakgimnázium. The Bláthy Ottó Titusz Informatikai Technikum stands as a beacon of technical education in Budapest. It is located in the III. district.
Originally named the III. kerületi Ipari szakközépiskola the Bláthy Ottó Titusz Informatikai Technikum has evolved. It became the Fővárosi Tanács Ipari Szakközépiskola in 1970. Later in 1976 it was known as Erősáramú Szakközépiskola. The school’s journey reflects its dedication to adapting to changing educational needs.
A significant change occurred in 2007. The Bláthy Ottó Titusz Informatikai Technikum became the legal successor to the former Kalmár László Számítástechnikai Szakközépiskola. This transition solidified its focus on informatics.
The Bláthy Ottó Titusz Informatikai Technikum provides various educational programs. It prepares students for both intermediate and advanced level school leaving exams. It also offers vocational training in informatics. Students can gain qualifications in economic informatics system informatics and computer programming.
The Bláthy Ottó Titusz Informatikai Technikum collaborates with Óbuda University’s Neumann János Faculty of Informatics. This is done through a CISCO Networking Academy agreement. The school also functions as an ECDL examination center. This is based on an agreement with the Neumann János Computer Science Society.
The school building was constructed in 1987. It houses ten computer labs with nearly 200 computer workstations. These are available for students. Three of the computer labs are CISCO networking academies. Another lab supports Arduino activities. These labs are equipped with the necessary tools and software.
Currently the Bláthy Ottó Titusz Informatikai Technikum educates around 600 to 650 students. About 50 qualified educators and IT professionals make up the faculty.
Geographically the Bláthy Ottó Titusz Informatikai Technikum is situated in a green area. No other vocational school with a similar profile exists nearby. The closest four-year state-maintained grammar school is in the II. district.
