Perhaps the most charming spot along the Római part is the Bibic csónakház. This boathouse whispers tales of a bygone era. It stands as a testament to Budapest’s rich watersports history. The Bibic csónakház is a protected monument. Its identifier is 11187.

This building’s story began in the first half of the 1920s. It offered simple boat storage. The Bibic csónakház has a rectangular layout and a gable roof. Its construction features both brick and wood. This combination gives it a unique character.

Notice the roof. It is partly flat. The extended part of the building has corrugated iron sheet roofing. The ground floor of the front section is brick. This is likely a later addition. Two iron sheet doors and a small rectangular window break up the brick facade.

The upper level is a wooden structure. It is reminiscent of Swiss-style verandas. The roof has a gable element in the center. This forms a triangular gable. Originally a staircase connected to the left side of the facade. Now removed, it once provided access to the upper floor.

In 2011, the Bibic csónakház was renovated. It was offered for sale as a shell-state apartment. Its condition was good. But its future remains uncertain.

The Bibic csónakház is located at Római part 25, Nánási út 39. Its coordinates are N 47° 34,218′ E 19° 3,891′. The land registry number is 23761/2.

The Bibic csónakház is more than just a building. It is a reminder of the area’s sporting past. Other boathouses are nearby. They create a unique atmosphere along the Római part.

Imagine the scene in its heyday. Boats gliding on the Danube. Laughter and splashing echoing through the air. The Bibic csónakház stood as a silent witness to these joyful moments. Today it stands quietly, a piece of living history. It connects us to Budapest’s past. It reminds us of simpler times. A time when watersports and community were the heart of Római part.

Take a moment to appreciate the Bibic csónakház. See its architectural details and imagine its history. This building represents Budapest’s spirit. It combines preservation with resilience. It stands as a charming landmark along the Danube.
