The aroma of charcoaled lamb hangs heavy in the air. This is Beyti Lokanta.

Welcome to Beyti Lokanta a culinary landmark in Istanbul. Founded in 1945 by Beyti Guler this restaurant boasts a rich history. It began as a small roadside eatery. It quickly gained popularity for its exceptional doner kebab a dish rare elsewhere at the time. Beyti Lokanta wasn’t just any restaurant though.

Soon Beyti’s reputation soared. A 1965 New York Herald Tribune article brought international attention. For years Beyti Lokanta even catered to four Pan Am airliners daily. Imagine President Richard Nixon enjoying a Turkish kebab here aboard Air Force One during his first European trip. This solidified the restaurant’s fame. The Turkish kebab became renowned worldwide.

To meet the increasing demand Beyti Guler built a three-story building in Florya. Designed by Osman Yilmaz Sanli it features eleven dining rooms and a terrace. The decor is inspired by Ottoman Turkish art. The grand main dining room seats 500 people.

The Beyti kebab the restaurant’s signature dish is a testament to Beyti Guler’s culinary genius. Inspired by a Swiss butcher in 1961 it’s made of roasted lamb fillets wrapped in lamb cutlet fat. This isn’t your average street food kebab. It’s a unique creation. A culinary masterpiece.

Over fifty years many heads of state politicians and celebrities have dined at Beyti Lokanta. They’ve come to experience the legendary flavors and ambiance of this special place. It’s a testament to Beyti Guler’s vision and culinary skill. A restaurant that has stood the test of time.

Beyti Lokanta isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a piece of Istanbul’s history. A place where tradition meets modern culinary excellence. A testament to the power of a well-prepared kebab. Enjoy your time at this Istanbul institution.
