On this very site, Bexleyheath Academy has stood as a beacon of education since its establishment in 1968. Bexleyheath Academy was born from the merging of two local schools: a boys’ central school on Graham Road, and an all-girls’ secondary modern school right here. The school building we see today dates back to before World War II, nestled comfortably in this residential area. For years, Bexleyheath Academy thrived as Bexleyheath School, offering a place for young minds to grow and learn. Then, in 2011, the school embraced a new chapter in its story. On September 1st of that year, Bexleyheath School officially became Bexleyheath Academy, sponsored by the London Academies Enterprise Trust (LAET), a member of the Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) family. However, Bexleyheath Academy has seen its share of challenges. A 2014 report revealed the academy’s struggle to meet central government criteria regarding their sixth form admission process, leading to controversy and scrutiny. Despite the hurdles, Bexleyheath Academy continues to strive towards creating a nurturing and enriching environment for its students, committed to its motto, “Pride Through Achievement”.
