Beulah Mission Full Gospel Church has a legacy that reflects the changing face of Chicago. Its journey tells a story of growth, adaptation and a deep commitment to its mission.
Once upon a time there was the All Nations Community Church. It began its journey as West Auburn Park Swedish Baptist Church on January 2 1911. The church was located on West 69th Street in Chicago. It was owned by the congregation.
In 1922 the church became an independent Full Gospel Church. It was then that the name changed to West Auburn Park Church. The church moved several times to different locations on Chicago’s south side in the following years.
In 1957 the congregation bought property at 11325 South Halsted Street. A church was built and the name changed to Beulah Gospel Temple. Beulah Gospel Temple served its community for many years.
Most of the congregation had moved to the south suburbs by 1971. So the building was sold to a Church of Christ. The congregation met in three different locations from 1971 to 1973. During this transition the name was changed to Homewood Full Gospel Church.
The property at 18620 South Kedzie Avenue in Homewood was purchased on October 7 1973. A new building was built.
The church experienced tremendous growth. Construction began in 1985 on a new auditorium around the existing church building. The auditorium had seating for over 2000 people. It was completed in March 1987.
The church voted to acquire the name All Nations Community Church of Homewood in May 2001. It was a church made up of people from many different nations. Many ministers and missionaries were sent out into the field both nationally and internationally through this church.
Victory Sunday was on July 10 2016. A mortgage burning ceremony was held to commemorate the paying off of the mortgage. The church thanked God for people from various races and cultures. They were blended together as one body worshipping and serving the Lord.
