The doors of Bethlehem Unity Missionary Baptist Church are open, welcoming all to a sanctuary of faith and fellowship. This grand, yet intimate space has stood as a beacon of hope for the community since 1963. Originally founded by Rev. Roosevelt Randle with just seven members, Bethlehem Unity has grown into a testament to resilience and spiritual strength. Its rich history is woven into the very fabric of Chicago.
In the church’s early years, they moved to Roosevelt Road, seeking more space to accommodate their expanding congregation. Then, under Rev. Clinton Lee, they relocated to their current location at 5655 W. Madison Street. As Madison Street revitalized, the church, known as “The Church That God Saved,” became a vital part of its revitalization. For 35 faithful years, Rev. Dr. Louis Banks served as pastor, leaving an indelible mark on the congregation. His legacy continues to inspire and guide the church.
Today, under the leadership of Rev. Bill Evans, Sr., Bethlehem Unity thrives. Its mission, beautifully articulated in Matthew 28:19-20, is to teach, baptize, and equip believers for ministry. Within its walls, you’ll find a community that embraces love, compassion, and the teachings of Christ. As you stand before this majestic building, you can sense the dedication, the unwavering faith, and the countless stories that have unfolded within its walls.
