From a modest start on Nicollet Avenue, Bethel’s Rock Church has blossomed into a beacon of faith across the Twin Cities. Bethel’s Rock’s journey began in 1956 as Bethel Assemblies of God. Evangelists Robert and Monzelle Hanson planted the church in a small building that held only 66 people. Growth was rapid, demanding a new sanctuary almost immediately. The church thrived under various pastors for the next four decades. Then, a pivotal moment arrived in 2010. James Biffert became the new pastor, and the church adopted the name Bethel’s Rock, drawing inspiration from Jacob’s encounter with God in Genesis 28. This marked a new chapter. In 2015, Bethel’s Rock moved to its current location in Richfield. Its expansion continued with new campuses in Farmington in 2019 and Apple Valley in 2020, further extending its reach. Most recently, a new church was planted in Cannon Falls in 2022. Today, Bethel’s Rock embraces a diverse congregation, representing over forty nationalities, reflecting the rich tapestry of its surrounding communities. Under Pastor Biffert’s leadership, the church continues to grow, emphasizing biblical teachings, community, prayer, and the presence of God. Bethel’s Rock is not just a place of worship. It’s a vibrant community where people encounter God, find support, and experience love. It’s a place where diverse backgrounds unite, creating a dynamic tapestry of faith. From its humble beginnings to its multi-site presence, Bethel’s Rock continues to make a profound impact across the Twin Cities and beyond.
