“Devoted to be Debt Free, a future worth investing in” is the motto of Bethel’s Rock. This vibrant church community has a rich history. It welcomes everyone to encounter God.
Bethel’s Rock began as Bethel Assemblies of God in 1956. Evangelists Robert and Monzelle Hanson felt a calling. They wanted to plant a church in South Minneapolis. It started in a tiny building. This building sat on the corner of Nicollet Avenue and 57th Street. It only seated 66 people. Expansion was needed after less than a year. A new sanctuary was built. Immediate growth followed. Bethel Assembly had two other pastors. This lasted for the next 40 years.
In 2010, James Biffert became the new pastor. At this time, the church name changed. It became Bethel’s Rock Church. The name comes from Genesis 28. Jacob encountered God’s presence at Bethel in this chapter. In 2015, Bethel’s Rock moved. It found its current location in Richfield. The community welcomed them. They were committed to reaching the people of Richfield.
October 2019 was a special month. Bethel’s Rock opened a campus in Farmington. Just a year later, in September 2020, another campus opened. This one was in Apple Valley. The most recent addition is in Cannon Falls. This church plant launched in November 2022.
Bethel’s Rock represents diversity. Over forty nationalities are represented. The church reflects the diversity of the surrounding areas. Pastor James’ leadership has led to tremendous growth. This growth spans every area of ministry. Pastor James wants to raise future ministry leaders. He also has a vision for missionaries. He wants the church to continue making disciples for Christ.
Bethel’s Rock emphasizes biblical teaching. Community, prayer, and God’s presence are key. Bethel’s Rock is impacting many communities. These include Richfield, Farmington, and Apple Valley. It also impacts the Twin Cities and the world.
Bethel’s Rock is an Assemblies of God church. They hold to the sixteen Fundamental Truths.
Bethel’s Rock strives to be a welcoming community. It is inclusive for all. The mission is to spread Jesus’ love and teachings. They foster fellowship among members. Sunday worship is one of the programs. Bible studies and youth groups are also offered. Community outreach is also important.
Pastor Brandon and his wife Gianna lead the Cannon Falls location. They have five sons.
Bethel’s Rock has a 4-B Vision: Believe, Belong, Become, Build. This vision drives everything they do. They are devoted to God. They are devoted to His word. They are also devoted to one another. They want to impact the Kingdom in their communities. They want to impact the Kingdom worldwide.
