“Authentic and rare” Those are the words that define the essence of Berz Gallery Of African Art. Here stands a gateway. It transports you to the heart of Africa through its art.

Berz Gallery Of African Art is not just a gallery. It is a portal. It connects you to the soul of African artistry. It offers a curated selection of antique and ancient African art.

Andrew Berz is the man behind this gallery. He is a Mill Valley resident. Berz decided to open Sujaro in January. It was the firm’s first public gallery in five years. The gallery expanded on a private gallery in San Francisco.

Berz Gallery draws business from dealers. These dealers are from national and international exhibitions. They also do business through their websites.

In 2013, the Berz Gallery of African Art hosted “A Feast for the African Art Collector.” This event took place in the Fleet Room at Fort Mason in San Francisco. It provided a rare opportunity. Visitors could view and purchase some of the finest antique and ancient African material.

The event showcased pieces from various countries. These included Mali, Nigeria, and DR Congo. Also, there was art from Guinea, Ivory Coast, Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Cameroon, Tanzania, and Angola.

Berz began to shift the business. He moved towards art that was authentic and rare. He focused on pieces created for tribal use and pre-1940. This raised the value of his collection. It also changed the types of clients he attracted.

Berz once bought $800 in rice in Burkina Faso. He intended to give it to the village of Goin. After arriving in Goin, a torrential downpour began. It ended a six-week drought. The people looked at Berz with awe. He had given them sustenance and seemingly made it rain.

Berz founded the Sujaro Direct Action Project. It is a nonprofit. It aims to improve the lives of 150000 people. These people live in extreme poverty in western Burkina Faso.

The Berz Gallery websites have been a major driver of the business. Berz sends out a quarterly email newsletter. It goes to clients all over the world. The newsletter includes photos of recent additions to his collection.

Berz doesn’t wait for people to come to him. He is in Europe. He is in Africa. He meets clients and buys and sells art.

Berz Gallery Of African Art is more than a gallery. It is a testament. It shows one man’s passion. It also demonstrates his commitment. It is a dedication to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of Africa. It invites you to witness the beauty and power of African art.
