Benedictine or BC as it’s affectionately known boasts a rich history. Initially established by Benedictine monks from St Vincent Abbey in Pennsylvania the school served a vital purpose. It provided education to the newly emancipated African American slaves fulfilling a mandate from the Second Plenary Council of Baltimore. The school wasn’t always located on its current campus. It started on Bull Street before moving to its present location on Seawright Drive in 1963.
