Craving a sun-kissed escape filled with golf and glamour? Then get ready to discover Belek. Belek is a planned seaside resort. It sits on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast east of Antalya. This isn’t your typical Turkish town. Belek is purpose-built for tourism.

Originally, Belek was transformed from a pine forest into a golfer’s paradise. The idea was to attract golf enthusiasts worldwide. Today Belek boasts luxury hotels and lush golf courses. It also offers many other vacation amusements.

Belek’s history as a tourism center began in 1984. The town diversified with golf tourism in the 90s. It took its current shape in 2006. The 1982 Tourism Promotion Act played a vital role. It supported the development of the tourism industry in Turkey. Investment activities increased especially along the south coast. Antalya became a major attraction because of its diverse resources and favorable climate. Belek emerged as a key sub-center of the Eastern Antalya Tourism Development Project.

You’ll notice modern replicas of ancient Roman aqueducts and arches. They decorate Belek’s town center. The town also features municipal buildings and shopping streets. The impressive mosque stands alongside statues and a waterfall. This leads to extensive shopping in the tree-lined boulevards.

Belek is known for its beaches. The new blue flag beach park has fun for everyone. There are white sandy beaches. You can find water sports, shady parks and children’s play areas. Beachside restaurants and bars offer a relaxing atmosphere. You can enjoy the sea breeze while soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine.

Golf remains a central draw to Belek. The golf courses have wonderful views of the landscape. They provide excellent golf pleasure and competition. Belek was awarded the Best Golf Region of the Year in Europe in 2008. It hosted the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final in 2012. In 2013, Belek also hosted the Turkish Airlines Open.

Beyond golf, consider a trip to the Kurşunlu Waterfall. Over 100 bird species live here. A hidden cave sits behind the waterfall, a popular place to explore. You can also visit the ancient Aspendos amphitheater. It still hosts open-air classical and ballet festivals.

Belek offers a unique experience. It is a blend of natural beauty and modern luxury. Whether you’re a golf fanatic or a beach lover, Belek has something for everyone.
