The Bedir Cami, you see, takes its name from this very tree. In Turkish, “andız” translates to plane tree, but this tree, this grand old sentinel, has another name tied to the mosque – the Emir Bedrüddin Tree. And so, the Bedir Cami, a structure whispering tales of the 13th century, owes its name to the silent giant beside it. Built in 1277 by Emir Bedrüddin himself, the Bedir Cami is a study in contrasts. The mosque itself is modest in size. However, step closer, and you’ll discover a treasure – a minaret constructed from precisely cut stones. This minaret isn’t just a marvel of architecture. It holds within it a masterpiece of artistry. Ascend the stairs and you’ll find a minbar, a pulpit, intricately carved. It stands as a testament to the skill and dedication of the craftsmen from centuries past.
