Be Church has a fascinating history. The Elim Pentecostal Church in Barking was established on Ripple Road on May 17, 1925. Now it is located on Axe Street. This church is part of a large network. It includes over 600 UK churches. There are over 4000 churches worldwide. All form the Elim Pentecostal Churches network.
2025 marks a special milestone for Be Church. It is celebrating 100 years. In January 1925, George and Stephen Jefferys led revival crusades. These took place at Barking Bathhouses. God’s power was evident. Thousands experienced salvation or miraculous healing. The impact extended far beyond the initial four weeks.
In 2020, leaders from three East London Elim churches began collaborating. These were Barking, East Ham and Dagenham. They supported each other through the pandemic. Pitsea Elim Church joined in 2023. Ashingdon Elim and Rayleigh Elim joined in 2024. This partnership is called The East Gateway Hub.
The East Gateway Hub includes several churches. These are Barking Elim, East Ham Elim and Dagenham Elim. Also Estuary Elim that is Ashingdon & Rayleigh and Pitsea Elim. God guides the leadership and congregations. They are forming connections in prayer and ministry. Their vision builds His Kingdom. It stretches from the east, along the Thames gateway, into London.
Be Church is a diverse community. It represents over 50 nationalities. People of all ages learn to walk with Jesus together. Bless Barking is central. It shows God’s heart for the local community. Be Church provides a warm welcome and hot meals. This is for anyone in need.
Elders lead Be Church. They provide spiritual oversight. Each elder actively serves and leads ministries. Be Church also offers various programs. There is prayer every morning online. There are also in-person and online evening prayers on Mondays. Bible study takes place on Wednesday evenings. BeKids serves children aged 3 to Year 5. BeYouth is for those in Year 6 and above. These groups meet during Sunday services.
