Have you ever felt the cool smooth marble beneath your feet? Welcome to the Baushar Mosque a breathtaking testament to Omani artistry and Islamic faith. Located near the road to Muscat’s heart this grand mosque stands as a radiant beacon. It’s a place where the spirit of Islam as a religion science and civilization intertwine.

The Baushar Mosque isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a center of knowledge. Think of it as a radiant lighthouse guiding seekers of understanding across the Islamic world. Its construction a six-year endeavor following an architectural competition resulted in a magnificent structure. The mosque covers an astonishing 416000 square meters. This immense space can accommodate up to 20000 worshipers.

Step inside the main prayer hall. Its square shape is awe-inspiring. This area alone holds 6500 people. Look up. A central dome soars 50 meters above you. Its intricate design is a masterpiece of engineering and art. The dome’s spherical triangles marble columns and pointed arches are all adorned with porcelain panels. Notice the timber panels on the ceiling a reflection of Omani architectural heritage.

Explore the long corridors. Each one is 240 meters long. They are divided into halls. Each hall celebrates a specific Islamic culture. These corridors aren’t just walkways. They form a protective wall around the mosque’s main building. They lead to various facilities like the impressive library. This contains 20000 volumes covering science Islamic culture and the humanities. There’s also an Institute of Islamic Sciences where young people study religious knowledge. A large meeting hall accommodates 300 people.

The interior walls are covered in white and dark grey marble. Leaf patterns and geometric designs adorn the surface. Every detail reflects meticulous planning and execution. The doors are masterpieces. Some have Islamic embellishments topped with Quranic verses. Others feature stained glass panels. The artwork represents architectural styles and cultural influences from Andalusia to China. Holy verses are inscribed deep into the outer stones. They will remain as long as the mosque stands.

The prayer hall floor is truly stunning. It’s covered with a single piece Persian carpet. This incredible carpet has 1700 million knots. It took 27 months to create. It weighs 21 tons. 28 colors from plant or natural dyes were used. It’s a breathtaking sight.
