From its initial campus in Bahcesehir BAU expanded rapidly. By 2004 all university units had relocated to its prestigious Beşiktaş campus. Professor Dr Halil Güven served as the first president. He was followed by Professor Dr Şeyhl Batum Professor Dr Yılmaz Esmer and Professor Dr Şenay Yalçın. There was the Futurists Summit in 2008 a visit to Kyoto University the same year and the MEDAM Katip Çelebi Exhibition in 2010.
