Batu Lanchang offers much. It has primary schools, high schools and a vocational school. Penang Free School and Convent Green Lane stand on Green Lane. Penang Free School is Southeast Asia’s oldest English school. It dates back to 1816.
Chung Hwa Confucian High School and Heng Ee High School are well-known Chinese schools. Chung Hwa Confucian High School is Penang’s oldest Chinese school. It was established in 1904.
The Penang Digital Library sits within Penang Free School. It launched in 2016. It is Malaysia’s first digital library. It holds over 3,000 digitized reading materials.
Lam Wah Ee Hospital is at Green Lane and Jalan Tan Sri Teh Ewe Lim. Since 1883 it offers traditional Chinese and modern health care. Carl Corrynton Medical Centre and Optimax Eye Specialist Hospital are also here.
