Let’s step back in time to the late 19th century. Palma was then a fortified city. It boasted a wall almost six kilometers long. Ten bastions punctuated this wall. Bastió del Príncep is one of them.

The story of Bastió del Príncep took a complex turn in the 1940s. The state erected a military building atop it. It was called Caja de Reclutas. This “box of recruits” contributed to the bastion’s decline.
Since 1985 a key consideration has been renovation. The aim was clear. Transform Bastió del Príncep into an enormous balcony. It would open the city to the sea. Imagine standing here then overlooking the bay.
