Aromas of ripe grapes and freshly baked bread waft through the air. Welcome to Banks Road Winery. This family-run winery nestled on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula is more than just a vineyard. It’s a testament to passion and dedication.
Established in 2002 by William and Avanelle Derham Banks Road Winery began with just five acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Derhams’ vision expanded. Soon Pinot Gris Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz joined the ranks.
William Derham the winemaker himself champions a philosophy of minimalist intervention. Low-yielding vines result in wines with high natural acidity and sugar levels. This yields well-structured elegant wines bursting with flavor. It’s a testament to letting nature do its work.
What truly sets Banks Road Winery apart is its unique proximity. From grape to bottle to tasting counter the journey is only 400 meters. That’s less than half a mile. You’re tasting wines practically fresh from the vine.
The Banks Road Cellar Door & Cafe is the heart of the operation. Relax and enjoy current vintages. You can also explore the museum stock. Friendly staff are always happy to help. Even your furry friends are welcome. Dave and Bear the golden retrievers often greet visitors.
Banks Road Winery produces a diverse range of wines. The Banks Road range features Sauvignon Blanc Pinot Grigio Pinot Gris Riesling Chardonnay Rose Pinot Noir and Shiraz. The Growers Range expands on this selection. Finally the Yarram Creek Range offers more unique blends including Malbec Merlot and a stunning Sauvignon Blanc.
So whether you’re a seasoned wine connoisseur or just beginning your wine journey Banks Road Winery promises an unforgettable experience. Raise a glass to family passion and exceptional wines. Enjoy your visit.
