The courtyard southeast of the Catur Muka Statue is Puputan Badung Field. The Badung King and his people fought here. They battled until death against the Dutch. North of Puputan Badung is Jaya Sabha. Jaya Sabha is the official office for Bali’s Governor. The governor accepts important guests here. Guests enjoy dinner and Balinese culture shows. East of Puputan Badung is Jagatnatha Temple. It was built in 1968. This temple is open to all worshipers. It is not restricted like a village temple. Large ceremonies occur twice a month. These ceremonies happen at the full moon and dark moon.

Bali is represented by nine members in the national legislature. The Bali Regional People’s Representative Council has 55 members. Politics in Bali has been dominated by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle.

The province is divided into eight regencies and one city. The city of Denpasar was created from part of Badung Regency on January 15 1992.

The Bali Governor Office stands near the northern edge of Lapangan Puputan Margarana. This park has the Bajra Sandhi monument. The monument commemorates the puputans of the Balinese.
