High above us two women balance. These women are part of the Balance Arc sculpture. This sculpture is a gateway to a new world.

The Balance Arc sculpture features two large Chinese granite columns. At the top of these columns are two women. The women are frozen. They are in a balancing position. They each hold two spinning wheels. One wheel features Hans Christian Andersen’s paper cut-out. It is called “The Sun Head”.

These women stand in a Tai Chi posture. Tai Chi is a Chinese form of exercise. It relates to the Ying-Yang figure. It mirrors the philosophy of eternal interplay of opposites. The name of the sculpture reflects this. It is called The Arc of Balance.

Mette Agerbæk created the Balance Arc sculpture. She was a graphic artist and sculptor. She trained at the Funen Art Academy. She also studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma in Italy. Agerbæk was born in 1960. She died in 2011.

The Balance Arc sculpture invites contemplation. Consider the balance in your own life. Think about the interplay of opposites. How do you find equilibrium? This artwork embodies harmony. It encourages us to seek balance in our own worlds. The Balance Arc is more than a sculpture. It represents a philosophy. It is a reminder of the delicate balance we must maintain.
