The monument’s architecture follows the “Tri Mandala” principle. This principle divides the space into three areas: Utama Mandala (the main building), Madya Mandala (the inner courtyard), and Nista Mandala (the outer courtyard). Inside the Utama Mandala, three floors unfold Bali’s story. The ground floor houses administrative offices, a library, and exhibition halls. At its center lies the Puser Tasik, a serene lake. Ascend to the first floor, Madyaning Utama Mandala. There, 33 dioramas depict Bali’s journey. From prehistoric times to the struggle for independence, the island’s rich tapestry comes alive. The dioramas showcase key moments like the reign of Balinese kingdoms, the arrival of Hinduism, the Majapahit era, and the fight against Dutch colonialism. Finally, the second floor offers a tranquil space for meditation. It provides a breathtaking 360-degree view of Denpasar’s cityscape. Bajra Sandhi Monument embodies the Balinese struggle. The monument itself symbolizes the colossal Yoni, a feminine symbol of creation, while its base represents the Yoni. This duality also echoes the tale of Mandara Giri Mountain from the Adi Parwa. Gods and giants twisted the mountain within the milky ocean, seeking the Water of Eternity. Even the monument’s dimensions carry significance. The 17 gates, eight pillars, and 45-meter height commemorate Japan’s surrender on August 17, 1945. Climb to the tower’s peak for a panoramic vista.
