World War II brought further destruction. An aerial bombardment in 1944 leveled the Hoftheater. Its site now holds the German Federal Constitutional Court. The current Badisches Staatstheater opened in 1975 after years of planning. It’s a testament to Karlsruhe’s unwavering commitment to the arts.
