“Did you know that a London-based company helped light up the Olympics?” That company is Avolites. It stands before us. Avolites is a multinational technology company. It is based right here in Park Royal London.

Avolites specializes in professional stage lighting. They also create media control systems. Their equipment graces stages worldwide. Avolites even made control systems. These systems were used in the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. They also worked on the 2014 Winter Olympics opening ceremony.

Avolites began in 1976. A group of touring road crew members had an idea. They wanted to build their own dimmer rack. This rack was the Avolites FD dimmer. The company expanded into lighting control consoles. The 8100 series was released first. Then came the QM500 series in 1983.

The Avolites brand grew in popularity. By the late 1980s Carlton Television bought the company. In 1991 a management buyout returned it to private ownership. Avolites then focused solely on equipment manufacturing.

The 1990s saw new intelligent lighting products. Avolites designed consoles to control them. These included the Rolacue Sapphire and Pearl 2000. The Sapphire 2000 and Diamond II/III consoles followed. Most consoles used Motorola 68000 family processors. The FD dimmer was updated in 1996. It was replaced with the Art 4000.

The 2000s brought another dimmer redesign. This resulted in the Art 2000 series of racks. The Art 2000i installation racks appeared. Later the PowerCube dimmer/distribution units arrived. In 2001 Avolites launched the Diamond 4 range. These consoles used a conventional PC motherboard.

Avolites began shifting software development. They moved towards Windows OS. This led to the Titan software series in the late 2000s. Consoles were designed specifically for Titan. These included the Titan One USB DMX dongle. The Titan Mobile, Tiger Touch and Sapphire Touch consoles followed.

Avolites expanded into media servers. They acquired software from Immersive Ltd in 2011. This software was rebranded as “Ai”. A spin-off company called Avolites Media was formed. Ai media servers powered video mapping. This mapping covered the audience seats at the 2012 Olympics.

Avolites continues to innovate. They create high-performance lighting control consoles. Their media servers and dimmers serve the entertainment industry. Avolites products are designed and hand-built right here in London.

Avolites products have been used in many major events. These products are known for quality and reliability. They are also known for technical innovation. Avolites consoles are powerful. They are also designed to be intuitive.

Some key Avolites products include the Diamond 9 consoles. The Arena is a professional lighting controller. The Sapphire Touch console manages lighting and video. The Quartz is Avolites’ smallest all-in-one console. The T3 is designed for life on the road. Avolites remains a leader. It is a favorite of touring artists. They present enhanced visual experiences. This is Avolites. A British company lighting up the world.
