The Apor Vilmos Katolikus Főiskola won a special prize in Warsaw. It was for the “Vision Made Building” competition. The Pesterzsébet campus won in the “renovation and expansion of an existing building” category.
Illy Gábor praised the building. He noted the attention and respect the designers showed. They respected the existing building parts. The modern addition respects the old. It does not try to surpass or question its traditions and values.
Jahoda and Páricsy Építésziroda designed the campus. They transformed and expanded a Pesterzsébet elementary school. The architects succeeded in integrating the different parts built in different eras. The old and new building wings respect each other. The balance between them makes the entire campus proportional.
The new building houses the community space. It is home to the aula, lecture halls, and canteen. A self-sustaining green roof sits atop the aula. From it rises the all-white block of the main lecture hall. The building’s most special space is the minimalist modern chapel.
The AVKF Budapesti Campus stands as a testament to transformation. It blends history with contemporary design. It welcomes students seeking knowledge and growth.
