Founded in 1876, Aviron Marne & Joinville boasts two locations right here on the Marne’s edge in Joinville-le-Pont. Imagine 1500 members, 500 with annual licenses, gliding across the water. Aviron Marne & Joinville is more than just a rowing club. It’s a three-star French Rowing School, a testament to its commitment to excellence. Aviron Marne & Joinville is a champion factory. In 2024, it ranked first nationally among youth rowing clubs, ninth nationally in performance, and seventeenth in the master’s category. They’ve earned two French youth championship titles and an impressive four senior titles in the eight-barred category. These include men’s sprint, women’s sprint, mixed sprint, and the overall men’s title. About ten athletes from Aviron Marne & Joinville are on the high-level athlete list. Their success underscores the club’s dynamic approach to training, instilling values like respect, courage, a strong work ethic, teamwork, and mutual support. It’s no surprise that prestigious schools like CentraleSupélec and Mines de Paris have chosen Aviron Marne & Joinville as their rowing hub. Even the French women’s national team trains here, a testament to its world-class facilities. But Aviron Marne & Joinville isn’t just for elite athletes. Every weekend, the Ile Fanac boathouse comes alive with rowers enjoying the Marne’s peaceful atmosphere. The club’s colors have been seen at the Vogalonga in Venice, the Boat Race in Bruges, in Pô, Italy, on the Canal du Midi, in Arcachon Bay, and even as far away as Chicago. Every two years, Aviron Marne & Joinville organizes “La Joinvillaise,” a rowing excursion on the Marne towards the Château de Champs-sur-Marne, attracting over 100 participants.
