Avenue Edison, a street in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, is a quiet, unassuming street that holds a piece of history. Imagine yourself standing on this street, surrounded by buildings and a bustling city, yet feeling a sense of tranquility. Avenue Edison is named after the great American inventor, Thomas Edison, who was known for his groundbreaking innovations in electricity, including the incandescent light bulb. The street was planned in the 1910s, and in 1932, it was given the name “Avenue Edison” in anticipation of its opening. It wasn’t until 1937 that most of the street was officially opened. A few years later, the final part of the street connecting to Avenue de Choisy was opened in 1970, making it the complete street we see today. This avenue boasts several interesting sites. The Parc de Choisy nearby is a wonderful place to stroll and relax. You will also find the Centre Sportif Charles-Moureu, a place where the locals enjoy sports. The Conservatoire Municipal du 13e arrondissement Maurice-Ravel, housed in the former Lycee Henry-Chasles building, provides musical education to the neighborhood. It’s not just the architectural beauty of Avenue Edison that makes it special, but also the echoes of historical planning and construction. Imagine strolling through this street, envisioning the transformation from a planned street to its present-day state. The echoes of the past mingle with the sounds of present-day life on Avenue Edison, making it a unique and fascinating experience.
