A stele stands at number 113. It marks a tragic event. This is Avenue de l’Agent Sarre in Colombes. Its name honors André Sarre a peacekeeper. He served at the Colombes police station. He started there on March 18 1938.

Avenue de l’Agent Sarre wasn’t always called that. Initially it was known as Avenue de Gennevilliers. The name changed on March 14 1947. This street holds a significant piece of history. André Sarre was tragically killed. He was only thirty years old. He died on August 25 1944. A German motorcycle patrol shot him at the Bezons bridge.

The avenue has endured much. The 1910 Seine flood heavily damaged it. Many low-lying areas suffered the same fate. More recently the avenue underwent complete renovations in 2008. Today Avenue de l’Agent Sarre thrives. It hosts businesses like Pylones at number 41. The Oasis a banquet hall is located at number 58. It was once a house dating back to 1872. It later became a restaurant. A dance hall was added in 1926. Its metal and brick structure is covered with glass.
