Amidst the tranquil greenery of Friedhof Oberreut in Karlsruhe, the Aussegnungshalle stands as a poignant tribute to life and remembrance. The Aussegnungshalle was designed by the Karlsruher Architektengruppe GJL (Grube, Jakel, Löffler) and dedicated in July 2001. Notice the distinctive roof that stretches eastward, a unique architectural feature of the Aussegnungshalle. Suspended from this extended roof, a bell hangs freely, its resonant tones adding to the serene atmosphere. Step inside the Aussegnungshalle and you’ll discover a space designed for contemplation and solace. The monochrome, three-dimensional artwork “Licht – Bild – Zeit” by Karlsruhe artist Stefanie Lampert graces the interior, providing a focal point for reflection. The Aussegnungshalle at Friedhof Oberreut isn’t just a building. It’s a place where memories are honored, where grief finds solace, and where the cycle of life is acknowledged with quiet dignity. Just a short walk from the Aussegnungshalle, a two-meter-high diabase cross stands tall. Erected in November 2006, it bears the inscription “Zum Gedenken an unsere Toten” (“In memory of our dead”), a further testament to the enduring power of remembrance within this peaceful sanctuary.
