The Assemblies of God Fijian work in New Zealand began in 1976. A group of sailors who were pastors and deacons back in Fiji felt a strong calling. By 1990 under the leadership of the late Rev Elimi Toanikere the Fijian Ethnic Fellowship was formed. It included this church in Auckland and another in Wellington. Today there are twelve churches eleven in the North Island and one in the South.
