These birds, facing a decline in numbers, are a priority under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. The field also supports a vibrant community of other bird species. Meadow pipits, kestrels, reed buntings, whitethroats, willow warblers, and green woodpeckers all call Arkley South Field home. While there’s no public access to wander through the field itself, you can still appreciate its beauty. From Barnet Road, as you head down Barnet Gate Lane, you’ll catch a glimpse of Arkley South Field after passing the last houses on the left. The sight of this protected haven, teeming with life, serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving these natural spaces.
