A sleek linear motif meets the eye. This is Arcadia Reserve. It stands as a testament to thoughtful urban design. Let’s explore this residential marvel. It exemplifies how to add density to established neighborhoods.
Arcadia Reserve, near Manukau Rd in Epsom, showcases a sensitive design. Leuschke Group Architects used Abodo Vulcan eco-timbers. These timbers help the project blend in. They complement historic bungalows and modern homes. This area is central Auckland.
Notice the Vulcan Cladding weatherboard. It’s coated with two Protector finishes. Patina and Graphite differentiate the residences. These colors also break up the face of the development. The staggered footprints of the townhouses add visual interest. The varied roofing profiles enhance this effect.
Look closer. The interiors feature Vulcan timber screening. It’s finished in Protector Graphite. This adds texture and privacy. The screening creates cohesion between interior and exterior spaces. It nods to historic balustrades and louvres. These are common on older homes in the area.
Vulcan timber was chosen for its stability. This is important for a four-storey development. The vertical weatherboards create a sleek appearance. Inset windows add a contemporary touch to the facade. Concrete provides a robust base at the entrance and garage level. This lends lightness to the timber upper storeys of Arcadia Reserve.
Luke Leuschke, the lead architect, aimed to create medium-density housing. It would respond to the Auckland Unitary Plan. It would make a positive contribution to Epsom’s densification. Abodo was chosen as a cost-effective, locally sourced timber. It is thermally modified. The support team was also a key factor.
Ben Campbell, Abodo’s Head of Markets and Innovation, was helpful throughout the project. He assisted with the final color selections. Arcadia Reserve is close to arterial routes. It is also near shopping and public transport. Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill offers leisure opportunities. The location is prime for this type of development.
The considered materials and refined design ensure durability. Arcadia Reserve is built to last. It stands as an example of modern living. It respects the character of its surroundings. It’s a blend of old and new, function and style.
