Can a small group of believers change the world? Here at the Ang Dating Daan, MCGI, the answer is a resounding yes. Ang Dating Daan, also known as The Old Path, began humbly in Northern Philippines with a handful of Filipinos seeking spiritual truth. Officially recognized in 1980 as the Members Church of God in Christ Jesus, the group, under the leadership of Bro. Eliseo Soriano, embarked on a remarkable journey. Initially, Bro. Eli traveled tirelessly, conducting nightly Bible studies in multiple towns across Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, and Metro Manila. Realizing the limitations of this approach, he turned to the power of broadcasting. The Ang Dating Daan radio program launched in late 1980 on DWWA 1206 kHz, quickly gaining popularity due to its innovative live Q&A segment. This uncensored format became a hallmark of Ang Dating Daan, setting it apart from other religious programs. In 1983, Ang Dating Daan made its television debut on IBC Channel 13. The program’s loyal viewership followed it through subsequent moves to RJTV 29, PTV 4, SBN 21, and finally, UNTV. In 1994, Bro. Daniel Razon introduced the Bible Exposition, initially an intimate gathering where guests could dine and discuss spiritual matters with Bro. Eli. The success of these smaller events led to televised Bible Expositions in larger venues, further expanding Ang Dating Daan’s reach. With the increasing need for administrative support, Bro. Daniel Razon was elected as supporting Overall Servant in 1997. The church also established a system of regional overseers. Ang Dating Daan’s reach extended beyond the Philippines in 1999 with the launch of AngDatingDaan.org, the first webcast and live video streaming of the program. This online presence fostered the establishment of international locales. In 2004, Ang Dating Daan embraced satellite technology, introducing The Old Path (TOP) to audiences in the United States and Canada. Despite facing opposition and even death threats, Bro. Eli’s commitment to spreading the Gospel remained unwavering. His eventual departure from the Philippines in 2005, while prompted by safety concerns, facilitated further international growth, including the first US Bible Exposition in Los Angeles in 2006. Today, Ang Dating Daan continues to expand globally, with locales across Asia, Oceania, Africa, North America, and Latin America. This remarkable journey from a small group in Northern Philippines to a global community speaks volumes about the power of faith, dedication, and the enduring message of Ang Dating Daan.
