Lost in thought, Rafael Viñoly once doubted its completion. Today, we stand before Anfiteatro / Aulas 11 y 12. It is a testament to perseverance and a beacon of modern education. This building is part of the Universidad de Buenos Aires. It embodies a vision of the future.

Anfiteatro / Aulas 11 y 12 is located within the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Natural Sciences. It is a state-of-the-art pavilion. It represents one of the most advanced facilities in Latin America. Think of it as a silver giant spanning 17,000 square meters.

Inside Anfiteatro / Aulas 11 y 12, you’ll find computer labs. There are offices, modern laboratories, a library, and multimedia rooms. These spaces foster learning and collaboration. The building opened in 2021. It began operating in 2022.

The structure boasts 19 classrooms. Five of these are in the style of an amphitheater. Each can accommodate up to one hundred students. Forget the old-fashioned desks. Anfiteatro / Aulas 11 y 12 has mobile tables and comfortable chairs.

Anfiteatro / Aulas 11 y 12 aims to accommodate over 3,000 students and researchers. It supports nine different degree programs. The goal is to hold all classes in this new pavilion. This will especially happen in a post-pandemic world.

The building includes 56 offices for researchers. One notable group is the Interinstitutional Center in Data Science. This center emerged from an agreement between the UBA and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Projects in computing, atmospheric sciences, and calculation will advance here.

Hidden from view is an innovative feature. Climb a restricted staircase to discover it. You will find 8,700 square meters of green roof above. This rooftop garden absorbs solar energy. It helps stabilize the building’s temperature.

The Banco de Desarrollo financed this ambitious project. They invested almost 50 million dollars in its construction. Architect Viñoly himself named it Cero + Infinito. He chose this name due to the two internal courtyards. From above, they resemble a circle and a sideways eight. These shapes symbolize zero and infinity.

Anfiteatro / Aulas 11 y 12 facilitates connection. It links to other pavilions of Exactas. The contrast between the modern new building and the older structures is striking. The older building was considered advanced sixty years ago.

The Anfiteatro / Aulas 11 y 12 stands as a symbol. It shows what can happen when vision meets dedication. It is a place where students learn, researchers explore, and the future is shaped.
