Welcome to Anchor Church in Kaneohe. Did you know this church wasn’t always called Anchor Church? For many years it was known as Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay. Founded by Carl Moore’s father Ralph Moore it’s a significant part of the Kaneohe community. Ralph Moore is now the senior pastor at Hope Chapel Honolulu.
The name change happened in 2015. The church chose “Anchor Church” inspired by Hebrews 6:19 which speaks of hope as a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. Pastors Carl Moore and Tom Landeza lead Anchor Church. Their mission is to connect people to God equip them to serve and empower them to win the world for Christ. They believe in reaching people where they are showing God’s love.
Anchor Church is more than just a building. It’s a place of love and acceptance. One attendee Zach Thompson who joined in 2016 says people are noticed and get to know each other. He emphasizes the love and acceptance found there regardless of background. The church actively reaches out to the community.
Their “Laundry Love” program helps people with their laundry needs while building relationships. They also run “Hope’s Closet” a non-profit organization providing clothes furniture and appliances to those in need. Anchor Church’s commitment to community is evident in its outreach programs. The church truly embodies its name providing a strong anchor of hope and support to its congregation and the wider Kaneohe area. The church is growing unlike many churches in the US. It’s a testament to its mission and the warm welcoming atmosphere created within its walls.
