1911. A fragile biplane, crafted by Paul Senge, sputtered to life on the Alter Flugplatz. It bravely took to the skies, marking the first successful flight around this expansive field. The US Army occupied the Alter Flugplatz after World War II, using it sparingly until 1993. The land was then handed back to the city.
