“Alliance 2020”, a monumental sculpture by Victoria d’Harcourt, stands proudly in the welcoming courtyard of the Necker Enfants Malades hospital. It was commissioned by the hospital in 2020 as a tribute to organ and tissue donors. The double alliance is made of aluminum, standing three meters tall and 2.8 meters wide. Each element is a delicate intertwining of curves, representing the bond between the donor, the medical staff, and the recipient. The sculpture symbolizes the unwavering strength of this life-giving connection, however fragile it may seem. With its elegant simplicity, it suggests both the durability and vulnerability of this union, echoing an infinite, perpetual loop. The sculpture was crafted by hand in a foundry in Auvergne, France, highlighting the dedication and meticulous care that went into its creation. “Alliance 2020” celebrates the extraordinary generosity and solidarity of those who choose to give life to others.
