Vladimir Komarov wasn’t just any cosmonaut. He was a pioneer. In 1964, he commanded Voskhod 1, the first spaceflight to carry more than one crew member. He bravely took on the risky Soyuz 1 mission, knowing there were potential problems. Tragically, a parachute failure caused his capsule to crash on April 24, 1967. Though his life ended tragically, his contributions to space exploration will always be remembered.
