Earl Spencer himself donated the land, and Princess Christian of Schleswig-Holstein laid the foundation stone. Imagine the grand ceremony in 1873! This church, designed by George E. Street, is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a living tapestry woven with the genius of William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones. Their stunning stained glass windows, the most extensive scheme by Morris & Co. in any London church, bathe the interior in a kaleidoscope of colors. But tragedy struck All Saints in January 1993. An arsonist, caught red-handed in the dead of night, nearly destroyed this architectural gem. Yet, like a phoenix, All Saints rose again. A £1 million renovation project breathed new life into the church. Today, All Saints stands as a testament to resilience and the enduring power of faith and community.
