Ten communities share this area. They reside within four districts of Baden-Württemberg. These include Ettlingen, Karlsbad and Waldbronn. Also Malsch and Marxzell are part of it.

The Albtal und Seitentäler area has varied natural spaces. These are part of the Black Forest. They include the Grindenschwarzwald and Enzhöhen. Also the northern Talschwarzwald.
