Picture this a magnificent kiosk a testament to Ottoman grandeur. This is the Alay Kiosk in Istanbul. It stands proudly near Topkapi Palace its history echoing through centuries.

The Alay Kiosk wasn’t always a museum. Once upon a time Ottoman sultans used this very spot. They watched their janissaries march past in impressive parades. It was a place of power and ceremony. The Alay Kiosk has seen many uses. After the Ottoman Empire’s fall it became the center of the Fine Arts Association. Later it served as a meeting place for lovers of Turkish language and literature. Finally in 2011 it opened as the Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar Literature Museum and Library.

Today this amazing two story building holds a treasure trove of Turkish literature. You’ll find manuscripts original translations works by famous Turkish authors. There’s even a cafe the Writers Cafe. Visitors can relax enjoy a drink among the displays of award-winning literary works.
