Gazetted in 2017, Aintree is a relatively new suburb in Melbourne. It’s a fascinating blend of planned development and community spirit. Aintree is located 28 km west of Melbourne’s Central Business District, within the City of Melton local government area. Aintree’s population, as of the 2021 census, was recorded at 7,982. Much of Aintree’s development is driven by the Woodlea Estate. Before becoming Aintree, this area was simply part of Rockbank. Aintree made headlines in 2019. It hosted a world record-breaking event for the largest soccer lesson. An impressive 835 participants gathered at Frontier Park for the lesson. Though the record has since been broken, it marked a significant moment for Aintree. Education is a prominent aspect of Aintree. Bacchus Marsh Grammar opened its Woodlea Campus here in 2019, on Frontier Avenue, near the Woodlea Sports Ovals. An early learning center for Bacchus Marsh Grammar is also located in Aintree. Aintree Primary School opened its doors in 2021. In 2024, two more schools were added to the educational landscape: Yarrabing Secondary College and Dharra School, a specialist school. Aintree offers a plethora of parks and open spaces. These include Frontier Reserve and Aintree Recreation Reserve, home to the Melton Warriors Rugby Union Club. Other notable parks include Boulion Park, Arbourton Park, Wireless Park, Jackwood Park, and Nugget Park. Since 2025, Aintree Reserve has even hosted a regular 5 km parkrun. Aintree represents the dynamic growth and development happening in Melbourne’s western suburbs. Its focus on education, recreation, and community building makes it a unique and attractive place to live and visit.
