In 1976, Advent Lutheran Church first opened its doors in Arlington, Texas. It has been a cornerstone of the community ever since. Imagine standing here, decades later, with the echoes of its rich history swirling around us. Advent Lutheran Church wasn’t always just a building. It started as a vision. A vision of a place where people could come together to worship, to learn, and to serve. The church has been shepherded by dedicated pastors like Rev. Dr. Kevin Kanouse and Rev. Joel Burkholder, who each served the congregation for many years. Dr. Kanouse’s leadership even extended beyond Advent Lutheran Church. He became Bishop of the Northern Texas – Northern Louisiana Synod. Pastor Burkholder dedicated his ministry to the church until his retirement. Today, Advent Lutheran Church continues to thrive. It offers services in both English and Spanish, catering to a diverse community of over 400 members. The church isn’t just a place of Sunday worship. It’s a hub of activity throughout the week. One of its most impactful outreach programs is a weekly food pantry. Every Monday evening, the church doors open to provide nourishment and support to those in need. This commitment to community service reflects the core values of Advent Lutheran Church. It’s a place where faith is put into action, where lives are changed, and where the love of Christ shines brightly.
