Why does this unassuming building have such a tall spire? You might not expect it, but this is Aberfeldie Baptist Church. It has stood here since 1965, a beacon in the community. The church’s history, however, goes back further, to 1947. Back then, it began as a modest Sunday school, a branch of the Essendon Baptist Church. The community grew, and by 1952, Aberfeldie Baptist Church officially became its own entity. The congregation first worshipped in a wooden hall on Price Street, moved in 1963 to make way for progress. This current brick building, with its prominent spire reaching towards heaven, was finished in 1965. Aberfeldie Baptist Church represents a long and rich tradition of Baptist faith, stretching back to the 17th century. Just imagine, those early Baptists in England, striving for religious freedom! Their legacy lives on right here in this very church, a testament to their enduring beliefs and the power of community.
