During World War II these guns were modernized. Remounted on shielded barbette carriages. This allowed for a higher angle of fire and increased range. From a mere 17000 yards to an impressive 27000 yards. The upgrade was crucial. It significantly improved the gun’s effectiveness against modern threats.
