Doesn’t Nishitetsu Gojō Station have a nice ring to it? Nishitetsu Gojō Station is more than just a stop on a railway line. It is a portal to different eras. This station stands in Dazaifu Fukuoka Prefecture.

Nishitetsu Gojō Station is operated by Nishi-Nippon Railroad. You can find it with the station number D01. The Nishitetsu Dazaifu Line serves this station. It is located 1.4 kilometers from Futsukaichi.

The station has a unique layout. It includes one island platform and one side platform. These platforms serve three tracks.

Let’s step back in time. The station first opened on May 1 1902. Back then, it was simply known as Gojō Station. It was part of the Dazaifu Horse Railway. Imagine horse-drawn carriages on a 914mm gauge railway.

In 1912, steam replaced the horses. By 1924, the track was changed to 1435 mm gauge. It was also electrified. However, in 1927, the station was abolished.

But the story does not end there. On May 3 1928, it reopened as Gojōguchi Station. It was relocated and then reverted to its original name in 1931. In 1942, it was renamed Sekeiba-mae Station.

The Nishi-Nippon Railway was formed in 1942. This was due to a merger. Finally, in 1948, it received its current name. It became Nishitetsu Gojō Station.

In 2022, the station served 15053 passengers daily. Nearby you will find Dazaifu City Hall. Also close are Chikushi Jogakuen University and Kanzeon-ji. Nishitetsu Gojō Station connects you to key destinations.
