Established in 1923 Chikuyo Gakuen High School stands before us. Its history is rich and fascinating. It began as the Fukuoka Prefecture Girls’ School. The school’s name changed to Chikuyo Girls’ School in 1935. In 1944 it became Chikuyo Girls’ Commercial School. After World War II in 1948 educational reforms led to the establishment of Chikuyo Girls’ High School. The school’s corporate body Chikuyo Girls’ Academy reorganized in 1951. It became Chikuyo Gakuen.
In 1958 Chikuyo Gakuen established Dazaifu High School a co-educational institution. This was a significant step. It expanded educational opportunities. A design department was added to Dazaifu High School in 1962. Then in 1965 Chikuyo Girls’ High School and Dazaifu High School merged. The result was the co-educational Chikuyo Gakuen High School. This is the school we see today. The school has continued to grow and evolve.
A special advanced course was added to the general studies department in 1979. A junior high school was added in 1991. Another advanced course a Special Advanced S Course was added in 2001. The school boasts a strong athletic program particularly in soccer and softball. The school’s teams have competed nationally. They have achieved significant success. Their softball team won national titles. Their soccer team also reached national levels.
